Friday 22nd May | 7:00 - 9:30pm
Join us for a special evening with writer and curator Hettie Judah, as we come together to for what Hettie is calling the ‘After Sessions’ following the launch of her book How to Enter the Art World After… Hettie is an art critic, author and curator. She’s a regular contributor to The Guardian, The i, The Times Literary Supplement and Frieze.
Come along for an informal, intimate evening built around art, conversation and community at The Good Space in Dawlish.
The evening opens with short presentations from four artists from The Good Space community - Rosie Harbottle, Katie Cleminson, Angela Rimmer and Jen Madden - each sharing their recent and current work. Expect a glimpse into the practices of artists working right now.
Hettie Judah will then take centre seat for an open, hour-long conversation, questions about the art world, about her work, about navigating a creative life. Bring whatever's on your mind.
Afterwards, stay for a drink and a chat. Hettie will also be selling and signing copies of her new book, How to Enter the Art World — a myth-busting guide for artists whose lives are complicated and human.
About Hettie Judah
Hettie Judah is a writer and curator. She is a regular contributor to The Guardian, Frieze and The Times Literary Supplement, and writes a monthly column for Apollo magazine. Her writing on art can also be found in Art Quarterly, Art Monthly, ArtReview and other publications with 'art' in the title. About Rosie Harbottle
Rosie Harbottle is an artist and designer based on the edge of Dartmoor, Devon. Using a palette of rich colours, brush strokes and mark making, she takes note from the changing seasons, landscapes, flowers and the simple joy of everyday objects to create colourful and poetic pieces that celebrate the natural world and living alongside it.
About Jen Madden
Jen Madden is an Irish visual artist and art teacher based in the Blackdown Hills, South West UK. She holds a B.A. in Fine Art Painting from Limerick School of Art & Design. In 2025, Jen is undertook a daily drawing challenge as a visual diary, documenting everyday moments, objects, and places she encounters.
About Angela Rimmer
Angela Rimmer is abstract painter working with acrylic, coffee, ink and restrained gold leaf. Her practice is rooted in a deep connection to the natural world. It is concerned with thresholds - moments of liminal transition where perception slows and the image gives way to experience.I'm not interested in landscape as a view to be consumed, but in the conditions we movethrough and in-between states of arrival, pause and disorientation. Angela’s paintings unfold slowly and are intended to be savoured - shaped by light, proximity andtime.
About Katie Cleminson
Katie Cleminson is an award-winning author and illustrator based in Devon. She studied Illustration for Children's Publishing at North Wales School of Art. She works with inks, watercolour and charcoal. Katie’s artwork has been exhibited at the Bologna Illustrators Exhibition, as well as in London, Edinburgh, Poland, Japan and Korea.
