Wax Carving Jewellery Workshop
Sunday 15th February
The Good Space is very excited to bring this amazing workshop with jeweller Bonnie Mustoe-Whitehill - discover more about Bonnie here
Create a ring, pendant or pair of earrings!
Discover The Process
In this calm 3-hour workshop, you will learn the basics of wax-carving and create your own ring, pendant or pair of earrings, completely unique to you!
You can either come with a design in mind, or if you're unsure of what to make, choose from a selection of Bonnie's simple designs to create yourself. Wax is easy to shape, allowing for bold, sculptural designs that are hard to achieve with traditional metalworking techniques. Perfect for all abilities!
If you're a keen creative and want to make more than one item during the workshop timeframe, you're more than welcome to!
Design & Create
We'll begin by exploring your design ideas and talk through the best approach for your piece.
Then you'll be introduced to the different waxes, tools and carving techniques, and shown how to work with shape and texture.
You will be encouraged to experiment and play, which allows you to explore your ideas and to get the most from your experience. Many people end up with a different design than they imagined at the start, and love it even more!
Wait for Casting & Polishing
Once your piece is complete, Bonnie will send it to a trusted casting company to be transformed into solid metal using the ancient lost-wax casting technique.
You can choose from Bronze, Silver, or Gold Plated Silver (other metals are available on request).
When it returns, Bonnie will clean and polish your piece in her studio - ready to wear in 3-4 weeks. It's worth the wait!
Casting Fee Guidance
Casting fees are additional to your workshop ticket. They depend on the weight of your piece and the metal you choose (prices fluctuate daily).
At the end of the workshop, Bonnie will give you an estimated casting cost and take a deposit. The balance is paid via pay-link once your piece is finished and ready to collect.
Example Prices:
Bronze: £15 - £55+
Silver: £25 - £85+
Gold Plating: + £25, available on both silver and bronze.
When and Where
Date: Sunday 15th February
Time: 10:30 - 1:30pm
Place: The Good Space, 4B Commerce House, Exeter Road, Dawlish, EX7 0NH.
